Product Ref:

£19950.00

Description

The original GWR ‘Star’ Class 4-6-0 steam locomotive No. 4033, Queen Victoria nameplate. A very desirable title, in very good condition, the front face sensitively re-paint some time ago with an untouched rear face nicely punched with the letter ‘L’ representing the left-hand nameplate.
Designed by CME George Churchward in 1906, the ‘Star’ class of 4-cylinder passenger locomotives proved to be a successful design which handled the heaviest long-distance express trains and established the design principles for GWR 4-cylinder classes over the next twenty-five years.
Locomotive withdrawn from Bristol Bath road depot 30.06.1951.
