Description

A rare one-off WW2 crash site relic originating from a USAAF P38 Lockheed Lightening twin engine fighter. Piloted by Captain Richard H Wells of the 71st Fighter Squadron 1st Fighter Group based at Debden. After taking off from his base he was killed in a mid-air collision which ripped off one of his engines causing the aircraft to crash in the area of Bush Farm, Thaxted in Essex on 13th January 1943.
