The Forest Toys Coach & Horses

A very rare and desirable example of an early 1920’s The Forest Toys Coach & Horses set. This model of the Wimborne to Winchester Comet is in excellent original, complete condition and of museum quality. The following details indicate this is an early example with quality features that disappeared when the works gained popularity, and sales volumes began to increase. The model is presented on its original painted plywood stand to which the horses are fixed. The coach has hand cut wooden coach wheels which were replaced on later models with cast iron versions (screw fixings joining the coach wheels to the base are removed to reduce the loading on the delicate wooden wheels). Delicate leather harness and reins, sensitively repaired and restored with small replacement leather sections where gaps where present. The horses have finely carved harness collars and saddles. The coach is enhanced with roof top passenger seats, mounting steps and carriage side lamps. All the figures are period with the collection and in lovely condition. There is small evidence of ageing, but otherwise this model has been lovingly cherished. Length 675mm, Width 150mm, Height 255mm. Please view images for condition details.
