LYR Block Bell_04

A Tyers block bell is an unusual pattern for the L&YR who tended to manufacture their own signalling equipment. This good quality example is possibly from a smaller line amalgamated into L&YR and later branded with the company mark. Fine hand cut dovetail construction, the mahogany case has a rich original patina further enhanced with evidence of ‘the human touch’. Several witness marks burnt into the front edge of the case indicate the smoking at work behaviour of a forgetful or distracted signalman!
