South Eastern & Chatham Railway oak single fusee drop dial wall clock  from circa 1900. The dial has been re-written in later service life 'B.R.(S). 1149.S.E' - signed 'John Walker, 1 South Molton St,  London' surrounded by a cast brass bezel. Originally located at Folkestone Pier Telegraph Office  later Folkestone Harbour No.3 platform and then Gosport platform. The solid oak back box has a delicate hand cut dovetail construction, the side door carries an original SE&CR number plate  stamped '1149' and bottom door retains the original brass turn lock. The back of the box is also stamped '1149 SE'. The quality chain driven movement is cleanly branded with 'G&B' and 'SECRy' stamped within oval cartouches. The pendulum is also stamped '1149' and the original clock key is stamped 'SE&CR', an extremely scarce detail. From the personal collection of Ian Lyman - probably the finest quality railway clock we have seen.
