An impressive and desirable Great Western Railway clock with original 14inch dial bearing hand painted roman numerals and GWR roundel. The solid mahogany case carries a GWR ivorine numberplate 2639 fixed to the lower right case. Traditional side door and bottom door with a later fitted GWR style ball catch to the latter. The quality English fusee movement is in good condition and keeps accurate time, with shaped shoulders and turned cylindrical ringed pillars. The access hole in the rear of the back box  subsequently covered over in railway service is an unusual feature. Given the clocks size  possibly a viewing / access point from within an internal station office?
