RAF Spitfire machine gun fire button
Product Ref:
VIN00777
£575.00
Description
We believe this extremely scarce item to be a genuine WW2 RAF Mk1 machine gun fire button. Fitted to the pilot’s cockpit joystick on early Spitfire and Hurricane fighters.
In very good used condition with fully working Safe / Fire rotating mechanism.
We wonder whether this button had involvement downing German Luftwaffe aircraft during the famous 1940 Battle of Britain. It has been suggested the plastic fire button indicates from a Hawker Typhoon, ground attack aircraft.
Whatever the associated history, it is a wonderful item with huge symbolic value.
